Ellen Goldsmith, MSOM, LAc, Dip. C.H.

[course/subject] Energetics of Food 

Ellen is co-founder of Pearl Natural Health, a naturopathic, acupuncture and Chinese medicine clinic in Portland, Oregon. She is a graduate of the National University for Natural Medicine (NUNM) Classical Chinese Medicine program, (Master’s of Science in Oriental Medicine), is licensed as an acupuncturist, and certified in Chinese herbal therapy.  She has taught Chinese Dietetics and its application in practice for the NUNM Classical Chinese medicine program for the past 14 years and is currently adjunct faculty for the Master’s of Science of Nutrition and undergraduate programs. Ellen is passionate about creating courses, programs and presentations that cultivate body/mind health and engage people through food as medicine, mindfulness and self-transformation. Her international teaching has trained hundreds of health practitioners in the field of Asian bodywork, self-transformation, and end-of-life care.

As an adjunct faculty at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in the drama department, she developed the course Optimizing Performance for undergraduate drama students to improve body awareness, focus, energy and presence. She has also hosted the podcast Health Currents Radio and is currently a monthly host on Pacifica radio station’s Healthwatch (KBOO.)

Ellen’s commitment to increasing the public’s access to naturopathic and Chinese medicine is highlighted by her 12 years of service on NUNM’s board of directors, functioning on the Executive Committee and as its chair, as well as her 8-year tenure on the Acupuncture Advisory Committee to the Oregon Medical Board.
