Erika Cappelluti MD, PhD, MA, FCCP, ABOIM, ABIHM, is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary disease, critical care, and integrative medicine. She began her career as a research scientist, obtaining a PhD in biochemistry and molecular biophysics at the Medical College of Virginia where she later completed her medical training. She was a resident, chief resident, and fellow at the UMass Medical Center in Worcester, MA, then joined Starling Physicians in 2004 after moving to Connecticut. She became a diplomate of the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine in 2008, a diplomate of the American Board of Integrative Medicine in 2016 and obtained a Master of Arts degree in integrative medicine in 2009. She was the founder and Medical Director of the Center for Integrative Health and Healing, the integrative medicine division of Starling, which later merged with the integrative program at Hartford Hospital. She served as the Medical Director of this program and of the Respiratory Care Department at the hospital for nearly 15 years. She had a clinical practice that included the delivery of integrative services to medical ICU and floor patients, research studies, and frequent lectures. She was the recipient of numerous teaching awards and authored many scientific articles and abstracts.
In 2017, she became the Fellowship Director for the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine and currently lives outside of Asheville, North Carolina. In her spare time, she is an avid runner, plays multiple instruments for sound healing, and is fulfilling her life-long dream to be an artist. Her new business, Alchemy Art & Healing, is due to launch in 2024.
