Sara (Gottfried) Szal MD is Director of the Precision Medicine Program at the Marcus Institute of Integrative Health and Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Integrative Medicine and Nutritional Sciences, Sidney Kimmel Medical College. She has developed a cutting edge, advanced nutrition course for our Masters Degree in Integrative Health Sciences that is like none other. Her novel clinical programs focus on scientific wellness and are grounded in deep phenotyping of the ene/environment interface. Dr. Gottfried is a graduate of MIT then Harvard Medical School, and then residency and board certification in OBGYN and Integrative Medicine. She is the author of 4 New York Times bestselling books.

Founding Director and Chief E Officer
Daniel Monti, MD, MBA is the founding director and now chief executive officer of the Marcus Institute of Integrative Health- Jefferson Health. He is Professor and founding Chair of the historic, first-ever Department of Integrative Medicine and Nutritional Sciences, Sidney Kimmel Medical College, Thomas Jefferson University. Dr. Monti works closely with his superb colleagues in the institute and department to continuously expand, refine, and define Integrative Medicine at Jefferson, including innovative clinical programs of excellence, cutting edge medical education, and world-class research.

Joseph Pizzorno, ND
Transformational leader in medicine
Joseph Pizzorno, ND is a transformational leader in medicine. Through half a century of work, he has helped establish and advance the academic, scientific, and clinical foundation of natural, functional, integrative, and environmental medicine. As founding president of Bastyr University in 1978, he coined the term “science-based natural medicine” and led Bastyr to become the first ever accredited institution in the field. He has set worldwide standards of practice by authoring or co-authoring 6 textbooks for doctors, including the Textbook of Natural Medicine (over 100,000 copies in 4 languages across 5 editions) and Clinical Environmental Medicine.

Rachel Carlton Abrams,
MD, MHS, ABFP, ABoIM
Rachel Carlton Abrams, MD, MHS, ABFP, ABoIM graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Stanford University, received her Medical Degree at the University of California San Francisco as well as a Masters Degree in Holistic Health and Medical Sciences from the University of California Berkeley. She is Board Certified in Family Medicine and Integrative Medicine. She is the Board Chair of the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine and has been a Board member of the Academy since 2019 (AIHM.org), and on the Board of the AHMA prior to that, leading in the areas of education, DEI initiatives, and ethical leadership.

Mimi Guarneri, MD, FACC, ABOIM is board-certified in Cardiovascular Disease, Internal Medicine, and Integrative Holistic Medicine. She is an integrative cardiologist focusing on disease prevention, health creation, and the connection between planetary and human health. She is co-founder and medical director of Guarneri Integrative Health, Inc., an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), the Associate Clinical Professor of Cardiology & Internal Medicine at California Northstate University, and the founder and president of the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine (AIHM).

Nate Handley MD, MBA
Integrative Oncology and Precision Medicine
Nate Handley MD, MBA is a leader in the fields of Integrative Oncology and Precision Medicine. He is uniquely boarded in internal medicine, medical oncology, and integrative medicine. Prior to joining the Marcus Institute as Director of the Cancer Recovery program, he was a fulltime oncologist in the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center, Thomas Jefferson University. He has tremendous expertise in precision medicine using genetics/genomics profiling to guide clinical and wellness care in cancer survivors, and also a wide range of other patients who seek this cutting edge approach.

Anthony J Bazzan, MD, FANA, ABIHM
Medical Director of the Marcus Institute of Integrative Health
Anthony J Bazzan, MD, FANA, ABIHM is the Medical Director of the Marcus Institute of Integrative Health and his expertise allowed us to develop several of our key clinical programs, such as IV micronutrients and BHRT. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Departments of Integrative Medicine and Nutritional Sciences and in the department of Medicine at Jefferson’s Sidney Kimmel Medical College. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, and is a Fellow of the American Nutrition Association. Dr. Bazzan has numerous publications, he is nationally recognized for treating so-called medical mysteries, and is a thought leader on hormones, the gut, longevity medicine, intravenous therapies and much more.

Heidi Honegger Rogers
DNP, FNP-C, APHN-BC, FNAP
Heidi Honegger Rogers is a Family Nurse Practitioner and an Advanced Practice Holistic Nurse. She is an Associate Professor at the University of New Mexico (UNM) College of Nursing. She is a Senior Fellow in Planetary Health with the UNM center for Health Equity, Planetary Health and Preparedness and is on the leadership team for UNM's Accelerating Resilience in Drylands institute. She was the Director of Interprofessional Education for the UNM Health Sciences Center 2018-2024. Her advocacy and scholarship centers in climate change and health, equity and justice, nature connection, wellbeing, planetary health and interprofessional education.

Dan Kremens, MD, JD
Director of the Marcus Institute’s Optimal Brain program
Dan Kremens, MD, JD, is an internationally renowned neurologist and Director of the Marcus Institute’s Optimal Brain program. He splits his time with us and the department of Neurology where he is Professor, Co-Director of the Parkinsons Disease and Movement Disorders Center, and Vice Chair for Education. Dr. Kremens has won many prizes and accolades over his career with numerous publications. He is the lead neurologist in the Marcus Institute’s NAC studies in Parkinsons Disease, with highly promising early data. His Brain program at the Marcus Institute provides a highly comprehensive assessment of brain function that combines genetics, brain neuro-imaging, neurological exam, and neurocognitive assessment all in one power packed day.

Myles Spar, MD
National Medical Director, Internal and Integrative Medicine
Dr. Spar has pursued his passion for root-caused medicine through training in functional medicine and serving as chair of the American Board of Integrative Medicine. As a clinician, researcher, author, teacher, speaker for multiple media outlets and on the TedX stage, Dr. Spar went on to specialize in personalized medicine for patients focused on optimal performance and chronic illness. Dr. Spar served as Chief Medical Officer and National Medical Director for Vault Health before joining AndHealth in 2022. He is on clinical faculty of the University of Arizona AWCIM Fellowship, the Academy for Integrative Health and Medicine Integrative Medicine Fellowship and the American Association of Anti-Aging Medicine.

Integrative Brain Health Workshop:
Learn from top experts in the field how to optimize brain function and the latest cutting-edge strategies for preventing cognitive decline. Focused assessment strategies, including a review of brain imaging, precision medicine profiling, and functional neurological testing, will be discussed. Treatment protocols will highlight scientific advancements in integrative health care. This will be an interactive experience with case examples from Marcus Institute’s Optimal Brain Program. Integrative Approach to Pain Management Workshop:
Pain is one the most prevalent and challenging complaints seen by all health disciplines. Learn the patient-centered, interprofessional and integrative approach developed by our experts at the Veteran’s Health Administration and the Marcus Institute of Integrative Healthcare. Be able to apply the most evidence-informed and satisfying interventions tailored to each patient’s specific presentation, pathophysiology and psychosocial situation. These renowned clinicians will offer specific and practical approaches to pain patients, emphasizing the role of non-pharmacological interventions that target the neuromusculoskeletal. Vetri Culinary Medicine Workshop Details:
Vetri Community Partnership will be offering a 2-hour Culinary Medicine workshop designed for healthcare providers. This workshop will provide attendees the opportunity to participate in a hands-on cooking class, learning cooking skills and health-promoting recipes. This workshop is designed to empower you to think about how you can use food as medicine in your own clinical practice, as well as give you a toolkit to support your patients in expanding their own nutrition knowledge and skills.
Date: Sunday, 10/26/25 10:00a-12:00p (with time to enjoy the lunch you made!)
Location: The workshop will be held offsite at the Vetri Community Kitchen, which is about a 15 minute walk (.6 miles) from the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
Registration: $100 (to cover food, supplies, and Vetri Community staff)
