Prostate cancer ranks second only to skin cancer as the most common cancer diagnosis for men, and approximately 32,000 die of the disease each year.  But most diagnosed prostate cancer does not require medical treatment; therefore, active surveillance has proven to be an option for men with low-risk disease. Furthermore, the Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) test has been misused and has become a controversial biomarker for prostate cancer.  Novel clinical serum and urine tests have proven to be more sensitive and specific for the diagnosis.

New scientific research and Dr. Espinosa’s own clinical experience suggest that nutritional and lifestyle methods to counter prostate cancer reduce disease-risk development and progression and effectively minimize adverse effects of medical treatment. These methods work by creating a microenvironment hostile to prostate tumors.

In this presentation, Dr. Espinosa will discuss the specific naturopathic approaches that work for prostate cancer patients, including prescriptive physical exercise, focused nutrition, and targeted nutraceutical supplements, along with dosages required for clinical efficacy.  He will review the biology of prostate cancer, cover modern methods of diagnosing the disease, explore evidence for the benefits of an anti-prostate-cancer lifestyle, and offer practical tools to help patients succeed with the prescribed lifestyle methods.
